Homosapiens 2.0 is a 800-word flash fiction in the genre of science fiction.
I wrote this story based on the theme fragmented. I found its counterpart — defragmenting a computer. In the world of computers, defragmentation means cleaning up and reorganizing files on the hard drive so the system can run faster and more efficiently. And I began to wonder, what might happen if we attempted the same with the human mind?
At the same time, I found myself provoked by ideas claiming that the only way out of the climate crisis is through increased consumption — to keep society running, so we can afford to have more children who, in the future, might become scientists and invent solutions to the problems we ourselves have caused.
Out of these thoughts, the story Homosapiens 2.0 was born.
